When you are
revising loads, it can be tempting to go it all alone and rarely get
feedback from a qualified marker. If this is you, then don't let it
continue! Getting feedback and having an experienced outsider's
perspective could really make the world of difference. Don't believe
me? Read on and see why!
1). An experienced
marker knows what the examiner is looking for.
It's always a good
idea to have someone on board who knows all about CIMA and the exams
– because they have done it themselves and succeeded! Think of it
as having your own tutor besides you, who wants you to pass and write
a great answer. Plus, they will know how tricky it can be and that
there is also a light at the end of the tunnel! Model solutions can
be extremely useful, but having someone who looks at the work and
makes specific comments makes the feedback go the extra mile.
2). They provide a
balanced view.
It can be difficult
to look over your own work, when you have spent lots of time revising
for it and then writing it. Often, we can be too hard on ourselves
and not see the good parts of the answer! Other times, we think that
the answer is a lot better than it really is. A good marker should be
honest and detailed, with suggestions for improvement throughout. As
they are seeing the work from an outsiders perspective, the feedback
is likely to be more balanced.
3). They can help to
shape your revision plan.
Without strong
feedback on your mocks, it can be left up to you to decide how to
continue with your revision. There could be quite obvious issues that
are shown through the mocks, such as time management, that will mean
you have to spend more time working through, but there could be more
subtle issues that need addressing. Issues with the theory or answer
planning, for example. An experienced marker will be able to pick out
these issues and make sure that you are focused on improving these in
the future.
So that's three
reasons why marking helps! If you are interested in marking and
feedback, why not try our very own marking and feedback services. All
of our markers are CIMA qualified, experts in their field and know
exactly what the examiner is looking for. What more could you ask
